ABOUT
The Company

Hello! My name is Alura and I am the owner of Alluring Botanicals! I am so excited that you are here! Let me tell you a bit about myself and how this all came to be! I have many creative passions and always feel my most inspired by the natural world. I am captivated by all of nature's details and beauty, but have a special affinity for flowers! When I moved to Vancouver, it was late April - peak cherry blossom season! Which was followed by several waves of other beautiful flowers adorning the city! In my first month, I took over 1000 photos of just flowers (oops)! It was my personal heaven!
I like having my hands moving so it is common to spot me fiddling with a craft project. Sometimes when I was outside and did not have a knitting project on hand, I would start braiding grass. This habit quickly became more elaborate until I was known for my intricate flower crowns, making me the favorite counselor at camp! One spring I even started an Instagram account called a year of flower crowns, where I documented the changing seasons through flower crowns that reflected what was in bloom. Flowers went from being my muse to being my favorite medium.
I went to Carleton University where I studied Industrial Design. Which is the design of products, systems, service and experiences. This program was the epitome of experiential learning where we were encouraged to be active participants and take ownership over our education.
During my studies, I became very interested in how design plays a role in promoting well-being. I specifically took a special interest in biophilic design, a discipline that seeks to connect our inherent need to affiliate with nature in our modern built environments. I was also really intrigued by Ingrid Fetell Lee's study on design's role in facilitating joy. When I wasn't taking design centered courses, I often focused on psychology and enjoyed learn about well-being, joy, community, education, celebrations, rituals and traditions!

I had been working in various design roles for several years, most of which were virtual positions. I began to miss the physicality of making tangible creations. Then, one of my dear friends got engaged and I told her I wanted to support her however she needed - she delegated flower duty to me! I was so honored she trusted me with her visions and I had so much fun with this task especially, working on the large scale of the arch. This celebration was momentous for my friends declaring their love for each other, but it also was a pivotal moment for me! The entrepreneurial gears in my head began to turn once again, asking myself how I could incorporate more of this into my creative ventures. I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit - at 8 years old starting my non-profit project where I made blankets for women's shelters and establishing my very own annual art summer camp starting at 15 years old!

All this to say, all the invisible strings began to converge and what feels like the inevitable came to be! I decided to marry, if you will, my design background and my love of the natural world!

So that is how Alluring Botanicals was born!

I love what I do, and I am so excited to be utilizing my creativity to have the opportunity to celebrate your special moments with you!

IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linda Patricia Moore
My first exposure to floral arranging was with my grandmother. She too had her own business where she worked with artificial flowers and let me play with her supplies where she taught me design principles to create visual balance. She registered Linda's Creations in 1988. My grandma passed in 2024, the same year I launched Alluring Botanicals. I hope my work honors her legacy!
